Gunfire Reborn Wiki

"Common wandering ghosts that hide in lanterns. They drive their paper-made body to absorb the life of enemy. "

Lantern Spirit is an enemy found in Duo Fjord.

Their only attack is to strike you in melee, dealing Fire? damage. Due to this, they will always charge straight towards you.

Lantern Spirits are extremely weak on their own, having very low health. At this point in the game they can easily be dealt with by most weapons the player might have.

Lantern Spirits will appear in swarms usually before other enemies, needing to be dealt with first before dealing with the rest. However any weapon or skill with an area of effect will make quick work of them.

Reincarnation 9[]

On Reincarnation level 9, all Lantern Spirits will be replaced with Pyro Lantern Spirits.

Exploding Lantern Spirit[]

"Wandering ghosts that are summoned by Corrupt Monks. Hiding in lanterns, with their anger igniting the fire, they attack their enemies by charging at them and exploding. "

Exploding Lantern Spirits are mostly summoned by Corrupt Monks in groups of 3, plus 1 for every extra player, up to 6 total. Their sole purpose is to charge at the player, and once they get close enough they detonate, killing themselves. When killed, either by detonating or by the player, they will explode which deals extremely high Fire? damage to nearby players.

Despite their high speed, damage and extremely aggressive movements, they have very low health and can usually be killed in a couple shots or a single Secondary Skill.

Care should be taken when Catfish Men or White Sharks are nearby, as they can temporarily prevent movements, leading to an extremely quick death by several Exploding Lantern Spirits.

When a Corrupt Monk dies, blue flames will appear next to him, amount equivalent to how many Exploding Lantern Spirits can be summoned. These summon one final group of Exploding Lantern Spirits. The flames can be destroyed, preventing the spirits from appearing.

Exploding Lantern Spirits and blue flames are automatically destroyed (unless they aren't, see Bugs) when all other enemies in the room are killed, unless they are created by "all enemies transform into Exploding Lantern Spirit" challenge event.

Reincarnation 9[]

On Reincarnation level 9, all Exploding Lantern Spirits will be replaced with Pyro Lantern Spirits.

Spiritual Assault[]

In the Spiritual Assault Game Mode, Exploding Lantern Spirits do not explode when defeated.

Pyro Lantern Spirit[]

Pyro Lantern Spirits are larger versions of Exploding Lantern Spirits, summoned by Elite Corrupt Monks in groups of 2 to 4, depending on the elite's health. They have much higher health than their normal counterparts, making them capable of surviving several hits before being destroyed.

Their sole purpose is to charge at the player, and once they get close enough they detonate, killing themselves. When killed, either by detonating or by the player, they will explode which deals extremely high Fire? damage to nearby players and leaves a pool of fire on the ground which does constant Fire? damage to players in it.

When a mirror image of a Elite Corrupt Monk dies, 2 purple flames will appear next to him. These summon 2 final Pyro Lantern Spirits. The flames can be destroyed, preventing the spirits from appearing.

Caution should be taken when defeating a Elite Corrupt Monk with mirror images nearby. The purple flames that the mirror images create on death are not destroyed on room clear, causing Pyro Lantern Spirits to appear even though the battle is over.

Spiritual Assault[]

In the Spiritual Assault Game Mode, Pyro Lantern Spirits no longer explode when defeated.

Unlocks[]

Lantern Spirit will unlock the following items:

Notes[]

  • Lantern Spirits are different from Exploding Lantern Spirits, as they are not summoned by another enemy and will not explode on the player. You can tell the difference between the two by the fact that Lantern Spirits have small orange flames orbiting them, while Exploding Lantern Spirits have small blue flames.
  • Though it doesn't look like it, Exploding Lantern Spirit does have an entry in the logbook, located within the Lantern Spirit entry.

Bugs[]

  • Sometimes Exploding Lantern Spirits and Pyro Lantern Spirits will not be automatically destroyed on room clear, or are summoned afterwards. Because of this, caution should be taken after clearing a room that had Corrupt Monks or Elite Corrupt Monks in it, in case Lantern Spirits still remain.
