Lei Luo (Mandarin Chinese: 雷落 Léiluò - "Thunder Fall") is the fourth playable Hero in the game, being unlocked upon reaching Talent level 55.

Lei Luo's playstyle focuses on Snipers and other weapons that can deal high damage, as well as critical hits.

Fatal Current provides a variety of bonuses, including granting extra movement speed and improving Chain Lightning's damage, with the biggest bonus greatly improving the damage of the next shot, capable of making high damage weapons obliterate enemies instantly.

Many of his Ascensions focus on keeping away from enemies or attacking enemies that are too close with lightning and thunderbolts. This synergizes well with anything else that improves the effectiveness of Sniper, while also making it easier to land critical hits from the lack of nearby enemies.

Alternatively a variety of his ascensions can be focused on to turn him into a living tesla coil, endlessly striking nearby enemies with powerful bolts and giving him the freedom to focus on dodging instead of precisely aiming at enemies.

Lei Luo's biggest downside is his low Health? and somewhat low Shields?, making him very vulnerable to damage. To compensate, he also has the highest base Movement Speed and fast Shield recovery. Additionally he is rather ineffective with weapons that fire rapidly, since they do not receive much benefit from Fatal Current's damage bonus, and gain reduced benefits from certain ascensions.

Gifted Man Random Talents[]

A random option from each of 3 lists will appear at the start of every run. Only one can be selected, but the options can always be re-rolled.

  • Defense:
    • For every Elite monster/Boss killed or assisted to kill, +5 Max Shield? permanently.
    • After casting Fatal Current, remove self elemental effect immediately. In the next 2s, gain immunity to elemental effect and reduce DMG taken by 90%.
    • Increases Shield? recovery speed by 30%. Delivering a critical hit makes the Shield regenerate immediately.
    • When the Shield is broken, immediately fully restores the Shield and becomes Invincible for 2 seconds. (CD: 120s)
  • Weapon:
    • Deals an additional 30% damage to monsters that have more than 80% remaining total HP.
    • When attacking enhanced monsters, lucky shot chance +50%.
    • After killing an enemy 15 meters away with a crit hit, weapon damage will be increase by 0.3% permanently.
    • Get a "patrimonial" sniper rifle. (Random +2 Sniper with 3 inscriptions. High chance of Exclusive Inscription. Weapons that have not been unlocked can also be given.)

+200% .. +300% .. +400% DMG of thunderbolts summoned by [Fatal Current], inflict +50% Total DMG on enemies affected by shock effect and -80% movement speed to enemies hit by thunderbolt for 0.4s .. 0.6s .. 1s.
When casting [Fatal Current] or when it ends, summon thunderbolts to strike on 3 .. 5 .. 7 random enemies within 20m .. 25m .. 25m. Summon a thunderbolt strike on 1 random enemy within 25m every 1.5s.
Obtain 1 stack of [Voltaic Aegis] every 4s .. 3s .. 3s or every 1s .. 1s .. 0.6s during [Fatal Current]. Each stack of [Voltaic Aegis] increases maximum Shields by 5 .. 10 .. 20 and grants 10% .. 15% .. 20% DMG Resistance. Stacks up to 3 .. 3 .. 5 times and lose 1 stack each time you take damage.
-0.5s .. -1s .. -1.5s cooldown of [Fatal Current] including when [Fatal Current] is active every time you kill an enemy.
During [Fatal Current], inflict [Chain Lightning] with -2 .. -1 .. default bounces on a random enemy within 20m around you every 1s .. 0.85s .. 0.7s. Recover 1s duration for the active [Fatal Current] every time you kill an enemy within the duration.
+3s [Fatal Current] duration, and grants an additional 50% skill DMG. While [Fatal Current] is active, every time you trigger a Shock effect, you will summon a thunderbolt to strike the affected enemy.
Every Crit has a chance to trigger [Chain Lightning] (Higher CritX increases the chance, only one trigger per second).
+100% .. +200% .. +300% [Chain Lightning] Base DMG. After bouncing ends, deal an extra 20% DMG to the initial target for every enemy hit.
[Chain Lightning] connects all affected targets together and completes a circuit. Next time you hit a connected target, 40% .. 70% .. 100% of the DMG would be transmitted to all connected targets. (Void .. Void .. Doesn't void previous connects after casting [Chain Lightning])

-50% Fatal Current Cooldown. For each enemy hit by a thunderbolt, +40% base DMG to the next thunderbolt for 10s. (Up to 30 stacks) 120 Each stack refreshes all stacks. Maximum bonus is +1200% thunderbolt base damage. Bonus damage is actually multiplicative with Fulminous Zap.
High-Powered Arc
+3 bounces for Chain Lightning, +100% bouncing range. +150% Chain Lightning Base DMG for each increase to the maximum bounces of Chain Lightning. 90 Damage increase is based on the maximum potential bounces, gaining +750% base damage by default. Tesla Coil can increase the damage further, to up to +1350%.
Lightning Messenger
After dealing a crit hit, inflict Shock effect on the inflicted enemy and all enemies within 3m; When Lei Luo attacks an enemy affected by Shock effect, increases Weapon and Skill DMG by 200%. 150 Shock? is applied only when enemies are not already shocked and when hitting an enemy's weak spot. Forced critical hits (such as Wait For Good) do not count.
Gradual Improvement
Gain 1 stack of Gradual Improvement for Crit Hit, while reduce 1 stack for Non-Crit Hit. Each stack adds up 0.3x CritX (up to 30 stacks). 150 Grants up to +9.0x CritX. Only 1 stack is gained/lost per shot, and only 1 crit is needed to gain a stack. Missing a shot entirely will not lose a stack.

Build Strategies[]

These are a list of general strategies that can be built towards as you progress through a run. Almost no build is mutually exclusive, and often results in partially building into others due to the randomness of the game. Most however do not synergize well when attempting 2 vastly different builds at once, especially on high difficulties.

Strategy For All Builds[]

Regardless of the build picked, Voltaic Aegis will be high priority, due to its incredible ability at reducing damage taken for a rather fragile hero. Certain builds will find it more useful than others though, such as those that require you get closer to enemies.

Reincarnation Only[]

Low CritX Gradual Improvement Build
  • A weapon-based build for greatly increasing the CritX of weapons with low CritX, making them deal absurdly high damage.
  • Gradual Improvement should always be taken, for massively increasing the CritX of any held weapon.
  • Weapons chosen should either be accurate or have many hits for a greater chance to accidentally crit. Good options include Rainbow Arch ( Weapon Skill?), Argus, Hell, Illusion and Pupil. Shrieker can be a devastating choice, but the explosion AoE may work against you. Laser Gloves, Rainbow and Thunderclap Gloves only require 1 crit for every beam, and Rainbow can mark enemy weak spots for constant crits.
  • While CritX share(full text) and various CritX improving scrolls sound like a good idea, the high CritX that Gradual Improvement grants will result in severe diminished returns. Other choices may end up being a better idea as a result, but more CritX is still useful regardless.
  • Ascensions and Gifted Man talents should either follow the Powerful Weapon build or the Rapid Sniper build (without Eye of the Storm), depending on the weapon chosen. Wait For Good, Deadly Counter, Penetration Bullet, Merciless Strike and weapon damage scrolls are always useful.
  • While Counterviolence's CritX increase has heavily diminished returns, the 50% chance to crit on non-crits makes maintaining Gradual Improvement stacks much easier.
Counterviolence Explosive build
  • A build that leverages explosive weapons' synergy with Fatal Current and uses Counterviolence to force them to crit even if they normally cannot, resulting in massive damage.
  • As explosive weapons' inability to crit is balanced by their high base damage, forcing them to crit and allowing them to both take advantage of Lei Luo's many crit Ascensions and Fatal Current, which favors slow, powerful weapons like most explosives, causes their damage to skyrocket.
  • Counterviolence should always be taken to boost explosive damage and allow them to take advantage of crit Ascensions. Gradual Improvement and Lightning Messenger are good choices once Counterviolence has been chosen.
  • Weapons chosen should be explosives with high damage per hit and ideally a large AoE to allow for easier room clearing; Shrieker is the best choice as it is capable of taking the CritX share(full text) inscription, massively increasing its CritX, but options such as Dragon Breath or Fire Tower are good choices as well.
  • Ascensions, scrolls and Gifted Man talents should follow the Powerful Weapon build, but with some additional choices: As explosives also benefit from skill damage increases, ascensions and scrolls that boost skill damage such as Spirit Bible can also be taken to further boost damage.
Miasma Spam Build
  • A build designed for causing as many applications of Miasma? as quickly as possible.
  • Lightning Messenger should always be taken, for guaranteed Shock? on critical hits.
  • A Corrosion? weapon should be used, preferably one with high elemental effect chance per second. Porcupine and Radioactive Gauntlet are the best options, but Aura of Venom, Sting, Poisonous Ghost and other Shotguns converted to Corrosion element work as well.
  • Element share(full text) should be applied to your main weapon and another Corrosion weapon with high elemental effect chance, to apply Miasma even faster.
    • Alternatively, your offhand weapon can be Fire? element, to also have a high chance of inflicting Manipulation? and Combustion?.
      • Another method for doing this is having your main weapon be a Fire elemental weapon with high hit count per second, and your offhand be Corrosion with high elemental effect chance. There will be a much lower chance of inflicting Manipulation and Combustion, but much higher chance of inflicting Miasma.
  • Gifted Man talents that are particularly effective include:
    • Any Defense talent, since weapon and skill damage will not be a priority.
  • Since Miasma will be dealing most of your damage, you can pick more defensive and movement options to keep you alive instead of damage boosting options.
    • Note: Enemies enhanced with Armored will be virtually immune to Miasma damage, making it significantly harder to defeat them. Consider taking some damage bonuses, or finding a way to directly damage their Health?, such as Bloody Drill, Penetration Bullet or triggering an Instant Kill?.
  • Elemental Power and Fish or Bear Paw will greatly increase the speed at which Miasma and other effects spread.
