Struggle for Independence is an Occult Scroll. It is a Cursed Scroll and cannot be obtained through normal means. Instead it can be obtained when using a Peculiar Chest, rarely from Curiosity Box, from choices with Interdependent Fortunes, and various other methods.

It is exclusively dropped when playing in Multiplayer.

Reduces your total damage by -15% if you are not within 15 meters of a teammate.

Encourages you to stick close to your teammates in order to avoid the damage penalty. This can prove troublesome in certain player formations, such as if one teammate is a close-range fighter while the other prefers to attack from afar.

However the downside may prove negligible if your role does not involve dealing high damage, such as supporting your teammates with status effects, taking hits or reviving others.

Synergies

Positive

• Effects based purely on hits and not damage will still work a full effectiveness, such as Skill Booster, Giant Slayer, Final Judgment, Flowing Time and Merciless Combo.
• Evil-Devouring Sword grants +25% weapon and skill damage for each cursed scroll.
• Curse Away can be discarded, destroying it to cancel cursed scroll effects.
• Evil-Banishing Talisman cancels the effects of all cursed scrolls.

Mixed

• Good and Evil increases Shields^?/ Armor^? by +15 for each cursed scroll owned, but loses its +15% Lucky Shot Chance.

Negative

• Burden of Solitude will also deal damage to you every 15 seconds if you are not within 15 meters of a teammate.

Notes

• This scroll still activates if all other teammates leave the game.
